The Apology
PROJECT: The Apology is a powerful performance piece that publicly acknowledges the failures of the Irish State in relation to housing policy and provision. Created by artists Fiona Whelan and Feidlim Cannon in collaboration with Housing Action Now, the script was read into public record at Seanad Eireann in March 2022, and later screened at Butler Gallery as part of their Digital Gallery programme.

What they needed
Feidlim and Fiona needed a filmmaker who could work closely with them to figure out how to translate this urgent, politically charged performance into a film. The piece demanded a thoughtful, considered approach to capture the weight and significance of the work without overshadowing the script and performance at its heart.
What we did
We worked closely with Feidlim Cannon and Fiona Whelan to figure out how to film the piece, developing the visual approach together before going on to film the performance by Paula Kearney.
