Brigid, Our Spirit Stirring

PROJECT: Brigid, Our Spirit Stirring is a film documenting a collaborative art project led by artist Marie Brett with older people from Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo, Monaghan and Sligo. Participants explored the figure of Brigid through craft and poetry workshops, creating handmade artefacts including crosses, masks, God's eyes and Brídéoga, before bringing everything together in a final pageant at the National Museum of Ireland, Country Life. The project was an Age and Opportunity initiative, delivered in partnership with Age Friendly Ireland and funded by the Creative Ireland Programme.

CLIENT: Age and Opportunity

What they needed

Marie and the project partners needed a filmmaker who could capture the pageant event with sensitivity and care, doing justice to the months of creative work that the participants had put in and the sense of occasion of the final procession.

What we did

We filmed the final pageant event at the National Museum of Ireland, Country Life in Mayo, capturing the procession and the handcrafted work of participants from all six counties to create the finished film. It was a joy to be part of, a brilliant day out in Mayo with a genuinely moving sense of occasion
