IMMA Slow Looking

PROJECT: Slow Art encourages us to slow down and delve deeper by spending time looking closely at one artwork, or a small selection of work. By giving ourselves time, we can make meaningful connections with art, often discovering new ways of looking at the world and prompting interesting questions.

CLIENT: IMMA

What they needed

IMMA wanted to create a video series that invited audiences to slow down and spend real time with individual artworks. As part of IMMA Horizons’ Slow Art Online, the programme offered a calm, captivating online art experience designed to ignite curiosity and provide a break from the everyday. Guided by IMMA staff, each session encouraged viewers to engage their senses, reflect, and uncover the stories within each piece, cultivating a more mindful approach to looking at art.

What we did

We produced the Slow Looking Series by filming each artwork in depth, concentrating on one work at a time and capturing its detail, texture, and presence with care. Working with IMMA’s guides, we created a series of unhurried, thoughtfully paced videos that allowed space for reflection and personal connection — supporting the wider aims of IMMA Horizons to provide relaxed, accessible creative experiences that help people connect with art, and with each other, at a slower pace.

It was a genuinely enjoyable project to make — exactly the kind of filming we love, spending the day immersed in great work, taking time to look closely, and creating something calm, thoughtful, and lasting.
