What They Needed

Draíocht needed a filmmaker who could capture the scale and intimacy of the project simultaneously, following the work as it unfolded across dozens of private homes on a single extraordinary night, while also documenting the process that led up to it.

What We Did

We were brought in right at the very beginning, when Draíocht were still figuring out exactly what Home Theatre was and how it would work. There was something really special about being part of those early conversations, present while the shape of something genuinely new was still being worked out. We followed the whole process from there, getting to know the artists and the stories and the community as the project took form, before fielding a crew of ten camera operators across Dublin 15 on the night itself. And what a night it was. Being welcomed into so many people's homes, moving from house to house across the neighbourhood, watching brand new pieces of theatre come to life in living rooms and kitchens, performed to neighbours and strangers and family members, was something we will never forget. A genuinely uncharted project, and the beginning of a wonderful ongoing relationship with Emer, Veronica and the whole Draíocht team that continues to this day.
