The Engine Room
PROJECT: The Engine room was a 6 month artist development programme offering 13 participants the opportunity to think, develop and grow their artistic practice via collaboration with some of Ireland’s leading theatre and filmmakers. Consisting of weekly workshops with guest artists at Maynooth University and opportunities to experience and see new work, The Engine Room supported our participants to develop as artists and create a slate of ideas for new work through collaboration.
Supported by the Arts Council of Ireland, Maynooth University, Kildare County Council, Riverbank Arts Centre and Dublin Fringe.
CLIENT: Run Of The Mill
What They Needed
Aisling and ROTM needed a filmmaker who could drop into the room week after week and capture what was happening there, the conversations, the breakthroughs, the energy of a group of artists genuinely pushing their practice forward together. The kind of filming that requires trust, presence and a light touch.
What We Did
We have collaborated with Aisling and ROTM for years, across theatre shows and multiple award-winning short films, so when they asked us to document The Engine Room we jumped at it. We returned to Maynooth every Friday over the course of the programme, capturing the workshops and the magic that happened in that room week after week. Inspiring, brilliant fun, and another chapter in a collaboration we are very proud of.
