Artbox London
PROJECT: Artbox London is a registered charity and supported studio working with learning disabled and autistic artists. Artists attend weekly sessions to develop their creative practice over time.
They run workshops, cultural trips, exhibitions and professional opportunities that support different ways of engaging in the arts. Artists create work, develop skills, explore their interests at their own pace, and may choose to sell or license their work.
They believe meaningful creative opportunities should be accessible to all. They are committed to supporting artists’ development and ensuring they are valued within the wider cultural sector.
Their workshops take place in their studio in Islington, where artists explore their creative interests and develop their skills and creative practice using a wide range of materials and techniques. Supported by Art Facilitators and volunteers, artists work independently or collaboratively to create work shaped by their own ideas and interests.
They also organise visits to galleries, museums, parks and public spaces across London. These experiences build confidence, generate ideas and strengthen artists’ connection to the city’s cultural life.
Through exhibitions, commissions and their online shop, they showcase their artists’ work and challenge assumptions about who can be recognised as a contemporary artist.
CLIENT: Artbox London
What they needed
Artbox wanted to put a human face to their community, capturing the voices, personalities and creative energy of the artists who attend their studio sessions. They needed authentic, engaging video profiles that would reflect the individuality of their artists and communicate the real impact of the work Artbox does.
What we did
We visited Artbox London's studio and produced a series of video profiles of their attending artists. Each profile was crafted to celebrate the artist as an individual, their work, their personality and their story, creating a body of content that Artbox could use to showcase their community and champion the value of inclusive creative spaces.
